OTHER COMPOSITIONS

Several of my musical colleagues, like me, have tried their hand at composition. So far, two of them have honored me by allowing me to publish their work and display them on my website. If you too would like to have your original work considered for publication, feel free to contact me at bob_latorre@hotmail.com. Meantime, be sure to check out the fun and interesting pieces below by John and Victor!

Skagit Majestic March by John Rantschler

John Rantschler had a lengthy career as a music educator in Skagit County, Washington. He is a member of the North Cascades Concert Band, in which he plays tuba and bass viol. John composed the Skagit Majestic March in 2008 for the NCCB. It was first performed at the NCCB's summer 2008 concert, to rave reviews from audience members and band members alike. This march is energetic and tonal, has strong melodies and rhythms, and is fun for both listening and playing! Suitable for both street and concert performance, this march is scored for full concert band and is playable by college, high school and advanced junior high school bands. Price for full score and parts: $50.00. (International buyers will be asked to pay an extra $6.00 for shipping.)

Cement City March by John Rantschler

Here is the second march by John Rantschler, this one dedicated to his home town of Concrete, Washington. Like Skagit Majestic, this is a very tuneful and fun march. The melodies are rich with harmonies and counter-melodies, and the second strain and trio feature the bass section. John is a tuba player, after all! The North Cascades Concert Band was proud to perform it this march to appreciative audiences. Price for full score and band parts: $50.00. (International buyers will be asked to pay an extra $6.00 for shipping.)

Crash On Artillery! March arr. by Victor Veltkamp

Victor Veltkamp is a musician and piano tuner living in western Washington. He performs with many musical groups, including the Skagit Symphony and The North Cascades Concert Band. Several years ago, Victor discovered a piano arrangement called Crash On Artillery! It was a march dedicated to the Washington Coast Artillery, a now-defunct branch of the American armed services tasked with defending Washington's coastline during World Wars I and II. Victor used the piano score to write an arrangement for full concert band. It was performed by The North Cascades Concert Band to great acclaim. It is cheerful and energetic, with trumpet fanfares and melodic trio. Its historical cachet makes it a wonderful slice of local Washington flavor. I am proud to make this march available for any high school, college, or community band. Price for full band score and parts: $50.00. (International buyers will be asked to pay an extra $6.00 for shipping.)
